01 Who I am

The thread isn't advocacy. It's operating discipline.

I'm Michael Ruiz. In thirty years of executive leadership, I've directed $4.2 billion in economic activity to underserved businesses, turned a financially distressed nonprofit to sustained profitability, and co-founded an industry coalition that reshaped policy and practices across more than 50 companies in the mortgage industry.

Every meaningful advance in economic equity I've been part of happened because someone engineered it — into procurement strategy, board composition, and revenue structure. Through Calva Consulting, I advise organizations and companies at the intersection of growth, transformation, economic equity and community development, translating mission into an operating model that holds under board scrutiny, regulatory examination, and financial pressure at the same time.
